The Black Male Leadership Development Institute (BMLDI) is a partnership between the Urban League of Pittsburgh and Robert Morris University. Buhl’s funding to BMLDI targets development of young African American leaders throughout the region utilizing an intensive one-week residential program at the Robert Morris campus. It’s there that the young men are immersed in dialogue with African American male leaders from throughout Western Pennsylvania. BMLDI also follows up with year round activities that provide life changing experiences for young black males who return to their community with a commitment to improve and lead. BMLDI is an important project that is bearing fruit in seeking to raise up young African American leaders, many of whom come from at-risk neighborhoods.
